MOROCCO BOUND

Salamu alaykum!

It’s official, our next destination will be the sunny, diverse country of Morocco! Specifically the Berber surf town of Tamraght, where the pace is slow, the waves are plentiful, and the tea is minty!

Truth be told guys, when I wrote that last blog post we didn’t know for sure if Morocco would be our next spot. In fact, the plan changed about 3 times since that post. Such is life.

But we watched their first match in the World Cup and figured, if they play decent football, we’ve got to check it out.

Kidding, but actually! We’re so stoked to have the next part of our journey on the calendar. Right now we’re planning to be there a month, but if it speaks to us, we may stay longer.

I’m so grateful to have had this time in England, and now that we’re in the middle of our second heat wave, I feel much more at home climate-wise.

The Aperol Spritzes have been plentiful

But the fire under me that took me out of Costa Rica is still burning bright, and I’m so eager to get back on the road and experience life in a way that I never have before.

Slow, intentional travel as a remote worker is such an exciting prospect, and works really well with the lying-in-wait process we’re experiencing with Nathan’s exams and university applications.

Done with his exams, hooray!!

So in exactly a month we’ll have our bags packed and ready to fly out to Essaouira. If you know absolutely nothing about Moroccan culture, join the club! This is already feeling like an amazing opportunity for me to explore a culture I’ve never delved into before. I imagine given our location, we’ll be doing lots of surfing, yoga, and if I’m lucky, a camel ride.

I’m already buzzing about learning phrases in Darija (Morocco’s blend of Arabic, Berber, French and Spanish), making my own tagine and experiencing a hammam (probably several times lol).

Summer brings the slugs and the snails!

Next week, we head up north for our summer vacation to Northumberland and the Lake District, where we’ll be enjoying long walks on the beach, touring ancient castles, and hiking as many peaks as my body allows.

Happy Nala on our evening hike.

Last month’s post brought me so much joy to see y’all jump in with your guesses. Honestly, some of those ideas made me second guess our plans. (Mogadishu, of course)

The adventure continues, and I’m glad to have you here! Yallah!

Lau xx
